Aiptek Slim Tablet 600u Premium ii, my latest purchase
So this is my latest purchase, the Aiptek Slimline 600U Premium ii, from Computer Webstore f0r just £41.19 + P&P.
It’s in the mail, but I thought I’d fill you in on some details, and some reasons why I chose Aiptek over the more popular brands such as Wacom.
I was looking for a graphics tablet, and when I buy something I don’t just pop down to PC world and buy the first one I see. I will probably spend more time researching the product than actually using the product itself.
I ‘needed ‘ a graphics tablet for things like photo editing and graphic design. I can’t even count the amount of times I’ve sat there drawing with my mouse thinking ‘god I wish I had a graphics tablet’.
Drawing with your mouse in Photoshop is a bit like using a pneumatic drill to drill those tiny holes in circuit boards. It just isn’t quite up to the task.
This offering from Aiptek, one of the least likely brands I thought I’d end up buying, actually seems to have quite a few hit reviews. And also, quite importantly, with a bit of tweaking they can be used effectively on multiple monitors.
This Graphic Tablet boasts some impressive features, including a 10″ by 6.25″ active area. As a rough comparison, that’s only slightly smaller than an A4 piece of paper.
Imaginably, this will be a big plus. Working with 12 Megapixel photos and high definition graphics will require something a bit bigger, especially working with 2 monitors.
Also, the tablet gives as high a sensitivity as any Wacom Tablet, at 1024 levels of sensitivity. 2000lpi of resolution also gives this quite a high placing in the resolution stakes.
Having said all that, I’ll give you the lowdown when it comes in the post. And maybe some special bonus pictures for you!
Oh, also, it comes with this…CorelDRAW Essentials Edition 3
